Peakfactor, an industry leader, delivers tailored social intranet and enterprise network solutions to diverse entities including corporations and project teams.
The main task of the project was to restructure and redesign the platform with high adaptability to client’s needs. Our collaboration aimed to simplify common organizational challenges, focusing on enhancing efficiency in data management, communication, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.
Informed by Peakfactor's diverse audience, we devised a highly adaptable system with flexible, modular technology. This user-centric design approach resulted in an engaging, efficient solution that respects each organization's unique identity and needs.
We shaped the design philosophy of Peakfactor around creating an efficient interface that optimizes user time. Unlike social networks, Peakfactor focuses on task execution speed rather than time spent on the platform. The system measures the efficiency of user time online, offering a user-friendly experience by comparing time spent on the platform versus other social networks.
In our research, we identified three primary user personas: Organizers and Managers, Editors and Moderators, and Users and Visitors. These users interact with the platform in various environments, from bustling corporate spaces to tranquil community areas, with most activity occurring during the day.
Many users are familiar with similar platforms and often engage with the tool on mobile devices for quick updates. A significant finding was that while our users aren't typically tech-savvy, they prioritize functionality over aesthetics. They prefer a user-friendly, intuitive design that even a novice could navigate with ease.
Given the users' modest expectations, often due to past experiences with outdated software, our goal was to not only meet these expectations but also to exceed them by delivering a product that balances usability, efficiency, and visual appeal.
We transformed the system architecture from a labyrinth of complex flows into a clear, intuitive navigation structure. This redesign aimed to simplify user interaction, making it easier to navigate through the platform and enhancing the overall user experience.
To enhance flexibility and facilitate memorable navigation, we developed a material design system. This approach ensures a consistent, intuitive user experience across the platform, making it easier for users to learn and remember the navigation structure, and adjust it to their needs.
We incorporated what we refer to as "smart elements" into the design. These elements adapt based on the context of the navigation tree, user activity, and screen size. By responding to these factors, smart elements enhance the platform's usability, ensuring a seamless and personalized user experience regardless of how or where it's being accessed.
In our design approach, we incorporated a coloring model that allows clients to define their brand through colors. Clients can personalize their color scheme, but we've restricted the use of red to ensure a consistent and optimal user experience. This attention to detail ensures that each brand maintains its unique identity while staying within established design guidelines.
In conclusion, our collaboration with Peakfactor has been a profound success, reflected in user feedback and performance metrics. Users have praised the platform's intuitive navigation and customizable elements, underscoring the success of our user-centric approach.
From this project, we've learned the importance of adaptability and attention to aesthetics, lessons we'll carry forward in our future endeavors. As we look ahead, we recommend continuous user feedback integration for ongoing improvement.
One of the manager clients summed up the experience: "Using Peakfactor has truly demonstrated the power of efficient, user-friendly design. It's a tool that not only meets but exceeds user expectations."
